Stefan Grabowski, Curator (2011-present)

Stefan is a Boston-based filmmaker and multimedia artist. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art in 2009 with a BFA in Film/Video. Before joining Balagan, he curated screenings at the Loring-Greenough House, the Wildlife Preserve Outdoor Film Series, Backyard Band/with, Spectacle (Boston), and more. website

Mariya Nikiforova, Curator (2011-2015)

Mariya Nikiforova was born in 1986 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She received a BFA in Visual & Media Arts from the Honors Program at Emerson College in 2009. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in cinema studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III) while continuing to work in 16mm as part of the independent film labs L'Etna and L'Abominable. website

Jeff Silva, Founder & Curator (2000-2015)

Jeff Daniel Silva is an artist, teacher & curator based in Boston. Jeff studied Cinema and Photography at Ithaca College and received an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier. He currently teaches at Massachusetts College of Art and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) in experimental, documentary and ethnographic film studies and production. Over the past ten years Jeff has developed a diverse body of work from multi-channel installations to short films and experimental documentaries that have screened internationally at festivals and in galleries. website

Alla Kovgan, Founder and Curator (2000-2012)

Born in Moscow in 1973, Alla Kovgan has been sharing her time between Russia and the US since 1996 making films, installations, and stage intermedia performances as well as teaching and curating dance film and avant-garde cinema around the world. Alla is a recipient of many grants and awards, including a Poynter Fellowship at Yale University (2012), Bogliasco Foundation Fellowship (2012), Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship (2009), and Brother Thomas Fellowship (2009) for artists working at a high level of excellence and creativity. website
